Outlander season 5 filming update: Caitriona Balfe and the rain
Last year, Outlander didn’t film for the entire summer and that meant being able to get away from some of the challenges — think in terms of the occasional super-hot day coupled with humidity and a lot of rain. This time around the show is filming through ALL of the summer — that means taking on the elements at just about every moment. This brings us to the new post on Instagram from Caitriona Balfe (you can watch it HERE), which makes it clear that she is doing her best to huddle up inside a tent while some of the rain stops. You don’t see anyone else in the tent with her, but you definitely hear some other voices. At least she has company waiting out some of the rain!
What this video from Balfe does is offer up an indication of what it’s like to be on the set of the series and, beyond that, some of the struggles that go along with it! There are a lot of harsh conditions that you have to endure, plus some long hours. The work is worth it and well-appreciated by many, but you have to be prepared for some setbacks along the way. Have no fear, though — this will not have any impact on season 5’s filming timeline. They prepare for setbacks here and there, since they would be foolhardy to assume that everything is going to go perfectly throughout production within the elements. They plan production with bumps in the road in mind.
As you now know Outlander season 5 is premiering in early 2020.
