‘Modern Family’ season 4 spoilers: Are there wedding bells for Cam and Mitchell?

As likable as everyone on “Modern Family” may be, there is still one pair of characters who manage to continually win us over more than anyone else: Cam and Mitchell. What is it about these two? We really don’t know, but Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet have somehow managed to create an energy with these two characters that is so infectious that it is almost impossible not to love them and want them to have every bit of happiness in the world.

With this in mind, we really want the following story to be true … even though we are pretty sure it is just Ferguson messing with us, given that he would never be allowed to post something so spoiler-y otherwise. In a post on his WhoSay account this week, the actor showed off an image of the two characters seemingly at a wedding ceremony, and he attached the following caption for good measure:

“It’s not what it looks like … Or is it? Guess you’ll have to wait to find out!”

Since “Modern Family” does tend to operate within a certain scope of realism, we can’t imagine that Cam and Mitchell will marry until someday gay marriage is once again legalized in California, and we just don’t know when that will be. This is a hopeful show, so even if it never is made legal in the state by the end of the show’s run, we are sure that the producers will probably either find another way to make a marriage happen, or give the two some sort of equivalent to please longtime fans, if at all possible.
