Stranger Things 3 trailer: The fun fair and so not-so-fun problems
What Stranger Things possesses is the perfect combination of humor, nostalgia, and clever characters people want to see. The Duffer Brothers understand that there are PLENTY of viewers out there who remember the mid-eighties, a time in which there was no internet and kids actually had to communicate more face to face. It is for a lot of people a golden time, one where technology was present but not overwhelming. There’s something so oddly appealing about combining this world, a small town in Indiana, and also all sorts of creepy, supernatural entities. This is where we are going entering Stranger Things 3, where some of these characters are growing up … but also starting to grow apart. That’s what happens when you get a little bit older; it becomes harder and harder to keep the world quite like you remember it.
Below, CarterMatt has the official Stranger Things 3 synopsis, if you do want some more news all about what’s coming:
It’s 1985 in Hawkins, Indiana, and summer’s heating up. School’s out, there’s a brand new mall in town, and the Hawkins crew are on the cusp of adulthood. Romance blossoms and complicates the group’s dynamic, and they’ll have to figure out how to grow up without growing apart. Meanwhile, danger looms. When the town’s threatened by enemies old and new, Eleven and her friends are reminded that evil never ends; it evolves. Now they’ll have to band together to survive, and remember that friendship is always stronger than fear.
For some reason, the synopsis doesn’t feature the Fun Fair — but it’s there, at the start of the trailer!
Like the first two seasons, we’re sure that in the early going there will be a few moments where you can revel in the moment and these characters’ sense of wonder … but then things will slowly take a turn for the chaotic. The craziness will ramp up and you’ll soon wonder whether or not these people are going to survive. Given that there will probably be a season 4, you can probably assume that most of them will. We’re not sure that there will be any seasons beyond that, though — for one, one of the most appealing things about Stranger Things is that you’re looking at a snapshot from an individual part of people’s lives. If you have it go too long, it starts to lose some of that effect.
