‘Downton Abbey’ season 3 spoilers: Photos suggest major news for Sybil

Is there about to be a new resident in Downton Abbey? Judging from the latest photos released by ITV from Sunday night’s all-new episode, the answer here may very well be a “yes.” After first learning of her pregnancy last season, Jessica Brown Findlay’s character of Sybil may be finally ready to give birth. Unfortunately, we wish that it was happening at a little bit of a better time. We know the sort of trouble that Tom has gotten himself into thanks to working with a group of Irish rebels, and we also know just how some members of the residence already do not have the most positive opinion of the man. The one photo that we have of Sybil in bed suggests that she may be getting close to welcoming the baby, but Tom is nowhere in sight here. (Then again, it’s not as though the photo gives us a rather panoramic view of the room.

As for the other two photos that we have from episode 5, they really do not give away much: we have Mary and Edith both standing around in their nightgowns, and it does look like they are excited about something (which makes us wonder even more if Sybil is about to welcome someone new into the family). Meanwhile, we also have a shot of Anna looking relatively dreary in a sea of hats, likely is she is getting set to pay her love Bates a visit behind bars. The good news at least here is that there appears to be just a small glimmer of hope in her eyes now that she knows that he has not forgotten about her, a far cry from what she was feeling for most of this past episode. Now, we just need to find a way for the man to be released!
