Arrow season 7 episode 20 preview: Roy Harper returns (in the present)

Arrow

Arrow season 7 episode 20 is going to feature Roy Harper — which we imagine would be a bigger deal if he wasn’t already in the future. The show’s come up with some unique ways to use Colton Haynes throughout this season, but within “Confessions,” there’s a chance to actually get an update on where the character is in the present. That’s important since maybe this episode is going to be a bridging-the-gap one. Think in terms of one that connects where we are right now to maybe some of what’s happening down the light in that bleak future where so much is different and you’re looking for common ground.

Beyond just Roy’s return, there are some other stories that you show be intrigued about. Think in terms of what’s going on with Dinah, as we’re going to see a fairly experimental storyline play out. Earlier this season, we had a chance to see Arrow told as though it was a documentary. Now, we’re getting it a little bit more in the form of a true-crime show. Whether or not we’re talking about Law & Order or Making a Murderer is something we’ll have to dive into more when this story airs.

Want some other news on what’s ahead? Then check out the official Arrow season 7 episode 20 synopsis below:

ARSENAL RETURNS TO HELP THE TEAM – When they learn of an upcoming attack on the city, Team Arrow calls Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) to help them stop the Ninth Circle. However, things go awry and there is massive collateral damage. As Captain of the SCPD, Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) investigates what happened in an episode that takes on a true crime narrative and tone. Tara Miele directed the episode written by Onalee Hunter Hughes & Emilio Ortega Aldrich (#720). Original airdate 4/29/2019.

Perhaps the thing that we’re the most surprised about entering this episode is the mere fact that for an installment so close to the finale, Arrow is taking such a format risk. Yet, it may just suit the story that they are telling here! We also do figure that this could be one of the last big experiments that we see this show take given that after this season, there are only ten episodes left and that’s where you enter no-messing-around territory. All of those stories are going to have to matter immensely as you see the show try and build towards some sort of powerful ending, one that of course makes sense for Oliver Queen but also for some of the other people frequently within his orbit.
