Hawaii Five-0 season 9 episode 23 spoilers: About Taryn Manning’s return

In case you haven’t heard the news just yet, Taryn Manning is coming back for Hawaii Five-0 season 9 episode 23 as McGarrett’s sister! It doesn’t feel all that often that we get a chance to see Mary on this show anymore so you really have to take advantage of this moment. She and Steve have certainly been through quite a bit, but for the sake of this particular appearance, it seems as though there could be a slightly more lighthearted story for the two of them. After all, they’re working together on a rather unusual spy mission! Maybe it has a darker turn at some point during it, but on the surface, it actually feels like something that’s a little bit below Steve’s pay grade … but we’re sure that it’s not, given how in the world of Hawaii Five-0, things are often so much more complicated than they would at first appear. There is that way in which this show finds a way to constantly twist things and make them more exciting than you’d ever originally imagine.

“Ho‘okāhi no lā o ka malihini” – While McGarrett helps his visiting sister, Mary (Taryn Manning), spy on her shady neighbors, Five-0 investigates the murders of a ride-share driver and his passenger. Also, the team teases the youngest members of Five-0 when Junior escorts Tani to a wedding, on HAWAII FIVE-0, Friday, May 3 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

For those of you who are more interested in the Junior/Tani storyline here, it feels a little bit easy to understand why. This could be the episode that actually sends these two down a road to being a couple. It’s something that’s felt as though it’s been in the works for over a year now — the chemistry is there and, beyond that, it feels like they are different enough to be exciting together while also similar enough that there’s a natural, common bond. They are that perfect combination that you want from a prospective couple, and even if they do get together, we still feel like it’s not really going to change their dynamic out in the field.

Basically, what we’re trying to say here is that Junior and Tani have been set up better than the vast majority of couples that you tend to see on most crime shows — we just have to get to that point now where production takes that leap and actually brings the two of them together.
