MasterChef season 10 premiere date unveiled; The Masked Singer MIA
MasterChef season 10 – The culinary competition is bringing back Joe Bastianich, Gordon Ramsay, and Aaron Sanchez as judges for the upcoming season, and it will start off airing on Wednesday, May 29 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. Starting on June 20, it will also air on Thursdays at that same time — maybe this is Fox’s ways to keep the show around most of the summer while also working to cut down on some of those two-hour episodes at the end of the season like they’ve been doing in recent years.
So You Think You Can Dance – Come Monday, June 10 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, the dance competition will be officially underway! This time around Nigel Lythgoe is going to be returning alongside Mary Murphy, and for the auditions and Academy rounds they will be joined by Lady Gaga’s longtime choreographer Laurieann Gibson alongside former contestant Dominic “D-Trix” Sandoval. Cat Deeley is returning as the host behind the proceedings.
Beat Shazam – The game show returns for more at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time starting on Monday, May 20. If you’ve seen it, you know what to expect — there’s not a big reason to engage in such speculation here!
Spin the Wheel – Finally, the new game show hosted by Dax Shepard starts on Thursday, June 20 at 9:00 p.m. following the Thursday airing of MasterChef.
What’s missing?
The one disappointment that we’ve got here is seeing The Masked Singer not included on the schedule, which likely means that Fox is saving the second season of this show until either later in the summer or come this fall. The latest we could see them premiering it and having it still be done before the fall season is mid-July, but they may be waiting in order to ensure that they can get the biggest piece of the ratings pie possible. It definitely would not shock us if this show ends up alternating between the fall and spring somewhat similar to what the network does with some of their other big hits including Empire, STAR, and 9-1-1.
Nonetheless, the remainder of Fox’s summer lineup shouldn’t come as too great of a shock given that this is how Fox likes to do things in the summer these days — they don’t really offer up all that much in the way of scripted content, largely since they realize that there are so few viewers around this time of the year and they don’t want to make anything harder on themselves than they have to. We still wanted The Masked Singer, but we get it that it will probably take a good bit of time in order to cast it, kick off production, and make sure that all of their ducks are properly in a row in order to ensure that it comes back.
