Outlander perspectives results: Your favorite season 4 scene is…
Here’s what was very interesting to us in first asking the question — on paper, the answer seemed fairly obvious. If there was one moment from Drums of Autumn that you would consider to be the most iconic, we feel like most people would have said Jamie and Brianna meeting for the first time. As it turns out, this was the winner of the poll we put up last week, and the results weren’t even close — the Jamie – Brianna meeting had more support behind it than all of the other moments combined.
So why is the reunion so beloved? It packs so much emotion into a short amount of time. At first, there is humor there in how Brianna finds Jamie, coupled with his initial thought that she was trying to hit on him. Then, the moment turns into joy and utter bewilderment. Jamie knew that his daughter was out there, but we don’t think it ever crossed his mind (at least as a serious possibility) that he would get a chance in order to actually meet her. That changed within “The Birds and The Bees” on the show.

Beyond this meeting, many other questions surfaced, including of course how she made it back to 18th-century North Carolina and why? Yet, within that moment it is so easy for a lot of the questions to be pushed in to the back of your mind. It is all about seeing these two people come together following so much hardship — and there will be so much more hardship to come. This moment is just a wonderful, joyous celebration played perfectly by Sam Heughan and Sophie Skelton. Clearly, they knew this moment meant a lot to viewers out there and they did everything in their power to ensure that it was done right — including enduring some fairly-cold temperatures! One of the things that really stands out to us in watching back the scene is how clearly you can see their breath basically anytime they speak.
Perhaps the biggest thing we can speak to in terms of the Jamie – Brianna meeting is that it’s going to be hard for any other moment to top it for some time. All of the main characters are now together! There’s no more need for meetings or reunions — there are obstacles to climb over, but they’re due more to external factors than anything related to the landmark series itself.
