According to a report via TVLine, the TNT drama series is looking to cast an actress in her twenties in order to play an important character moving forward. Early indications suggest that this person will have many a similarity to Ellen Barkin’s character of Smurf, so there are two different possibilities here: Either we are gearing up for some sort of significant flashback storyline where we will meet a younger version of this character, or we’re going to see someone who is trying to follow in her criminal footsteps.
The most important thing to be aware of entering season 4 is that many members of the Cody family are basically walking a high-wire act. There are some serious seeds of distrust that have been sewn here, and we’re not sure that they are ever going to be repaired — especially when it comes to J and then Smurf. While we’re not sure the inter-family war will ever be super-covert, we do expect a few important games of mental chess — and there’s also going to be a part of us that, for whatever reason, still wishes for redemption for some of these characters … even if they don’t necessarily deserve all of it. That’s sort of the crazy thing when it comes to Animal Kingdom as a show — you spend so much time that you become attached to some of the Cody family, even if most of them are almost constantly involved in the process of doing terrible, hurtful things to some other people. It’s just naturally woven into the larger DNA of the show.
Remember that new episodes of Animal Kingdom will be premiering this summer on TNT — there’s no real hurry to get around to the premiere just yet, but we strongly suggest that you keep your eyes peeled and stay prepared for some more scoop. Hopefully, there will be a whole lot more to report on with the show very soon. We’ve certainly been patient even getting to this point in the process!
