The Bachelor deleted scene: Ben Higgins, Colton Underwood chat

Colton Underwood

It’s been a tradition for some time now for the star of The Bachelor to get some advice from alumni in the premiere. With that in mind, it was certainly strange to not see it show up this time around with Colton!

As it turns out, though, the show did actually film a segment that was cut from the premiere (apparently all of those live cutaways to various watch parties were more important), and you can see that deleted scene below. Here, Colton receives a visit from none other than Ben Higgins, who offers him up some advice for being in the driver’s seat this season. Most of it is sort of the standard advice that you would expect, but that’s not really the point of this — it’s more an opportunity to see Ben back on the franchise, which is something that we know many people out there probably appreciate.

So why bring in Ben in the first place as opposed to one of the more recent Bachelors like Nick or Arie? We think it’s twofold. For starters. Colton and Ben both live in Colorado, so there is a local connection here. The two guys probably know each other at least on some level and we hardly think this is the only time that they ever talked about Colton getting this gig. Also, Ben is infinitely more popular than either Arie or Nick were on their seasons. We think some people have come around on Nick over time but Ben is one of the most-popular Bachelor alum in recent memory. That’s one of the reasons why there are a ton of people out there who have been wanting him to take on that role again. Who knows if that will happen in the future?

For now, though, this is the Ben Higgins appearance that we know a lot of people wanted coming into the season, and we’ll have to just wait and see if we get another opportunity to see him or any other familiar faces down the line. Given how many turned up in the premiere, we don’t exactly think it’s going to be a top priority.
