Timeless movie: Check out Malcolm Barrett + and the NYC billboard!
The Timeless movie is just over three weeks away from arriving on NBC, and the story today is almost sure to make you smile.
In a new post, you can see none other than Rufus himself in Malcolm Barrett standing in front of the epic Timeless billboard ad in Times Square. This was the latest event put on by the show’s passionate fanbase in order to do some grassroots promotion for the December 20 movie; it’s their way of working to ensure that there could be a season 3 down the line, provided that the ratings are what many people hope. Timeless is a series that has developed a massive audience, one that is built mostly on love, humanity, and of course all things history. It’s only expanded over the past two years to the point where this fandom is one of the most influential out there.
So what are the ratings expectations for NBC for the movie in order for them to consider bringing the series back for more? It’s hard to pin down a specific number, but anything above the 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic that the show averaged for season 2 may be enough to at least spark some debate. Personally, we’d love to see it move up closer to a 0.8 or a 0.9 for a couple of different reasons. For starters, the series is going to be airing earlier in the night than it did in season 2 — one of the things that we commonly heard many fans being upset about is that they were unable to watch Timeless live with their families. This effectively means that this is negated. Beyond just that, there’s not all that much out there in the way of competition. While the movie is airing on Thursday night in primetime, it’s not going to be up against Grey’s Anatomy or some of the other traditional network programming. It’s too late in the year for that.
We’ll address the future of Timeless a little bit more down the line, but for now, we have to give fans the credit for putting forth the time and effort once more. They are the reason that we’ve got this movie, and the way Barrett gives back to them shows further just how appreciative and caring a person that he is. For many of the cast, being a part of a phenomenon like this is really an experience like no other.
