Poldark season 5 filming update: What’s going on behind the scenes?

We know that we’re set to wait for a rather long time still for Poldark season 5 to air — regardless of where you are! At present, our expectation is that the final season will air on BBC One in the summer, and then on PBS in the fall. It’s going to be rather hard to send these characters off into the sunset; yet, at the same time, this is precisely what we have to do now.

So what is going on behind-the-scenes to bring us to the end of the road in production? Well, for starters, know that there is already one big milestone that has been checked off: The end of Eleanor Tomlinson’s time filming in Cornwall. That was something that she first confirmed on Instagram (see below) and it’s a rather-somber thing to think about. While it appears as though there is a little bit more work to be done elsewhere, Poldark is iconic to the region and the two have had a wonderful relationship. The region has allowed the show to film for many years and, beyond just that, the show has brought the region in a good bit of money. It’s boosted tourism in a way that is very much exciting for local businesses.

We imagine that before too long, it will be the end of the road for Poldark filming as a whole and it will be a time for all of us to collectively get emotional. This has been one of the best British TV epics of the past several years, one with a fantastic cast, some magnificent scripts, and romance like no other. We’re going to miss it when it is gone, but certainly one of the things that we have come to know with British television over the years is simply that they never last forever. At one point, we always have to prepare to move on to the next big thing. Hopefully, there will be some other ways in which Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson can entertain us over the course of the years ahead. (We have a feeling that there will be plenty of people courting them for roles!)
