The Shadowhunters season 3 finale appears to be officially in the can; now, there is little to do other than wait.

In some new posts on Twitter (see below), executive producers Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer confirmed that they have wrapped the final mix for the finale and with that, their work on season 3 is officially complete. This was a chance for Slavkin and Swimmer to time up their work on the series and also a chance for them to watch the finished product with some cast members who were in the area at the time. It seems as though this was a great, emotional gathering for everyone in attendance right before Thanksgiving. They are all very much a family in their own way, and isn’t spending time with your family the very thing that Thanksgiving is about in the first place?

Of course, the painful part for viewers now is continuing to wait. Shadowhunters season 3 is returning to Freeform in February, but more than likely the movie is not airing until either late April or early May depending on how some of the remaining episodes are scheduled. We’ve got a long time to wait — heck, we haven’t even seen a full trailer just yet?

What’s next for Slavkin and Swimmer?

Obviously, it would be great if there was a suitor who came out of the woodwork for the series and granted it a season 4 — and with that, they would be able to continue along as showrunners. They’ve worked together on a number of great shows over the years and it would be great to have them adapting this story behind the scenes.

With all of that being said, as of right now it appears as though the finale is the final episode and, just like the rest of the cast and crew, they have to move forward and look at some other projects. Hopefully, they’ll get an opportunity to develop something new and exciting and that some Shadowhunters fans will continue the journey along with them. Given how complicated television development can be, it’s a little too early to tell just what will be next for them. Yet, we have to think they’ll be in demand for not only the work that they did on the show, but how they communicated with fans and worked to have such a positive atmosphere around the show.
