Agents of SHIELD season 6 progress report: How things are moving along
Yet, we definitely do have a sense that there is a lot of exciting stuff going down behind the scenes. The recent tweet below via Ming-Na Wen solidifies that the cast and crew is actually extremely far into the new season at the moment — even though the next season of the show isn’t going to be premiering until next summer, everyone is clearly very hard at work making sure the next batch of episodes is as good as humanly possible. It’s going to be the waiting on the other side of production that is especially tough here since it’s going to be such a long time to go.
Let’s just put things in some relative perspective for a moment here: By the time that Agents of SHIELD season 6 actually ends up premiering, the latest Avengers movie will have already come and gone. Beyond just that, the entire network TV season will also be over and we will know which other TV shows are going to be coming back for more. The hardest part when it comes to season 6 being on in the summer, beyond the wait, is that it makes the process of getting a season 7 all the more unclear. How long is ABC going to have to decide on the future of SHIELD given that it is coming on so much later? That’s an issue that has to be dealt with, but it’s not something that needs to be addressed now.
At present, the best thing that Agents of SHIELD can do is just try to deliver the best story possible and try to keep everything a secret for several more months. By the time the spring rolls around, it’s all but certain production will be complete.
