Poldark season 5: What’s the ideal series finale for Aidan Turner series?
How could the show come to a close? It’s an interesting question to ponder, simply because we’d be surprised if the BBC series gets to the remainder of the material that is present within the Winston Graham books. Instead, we feel like the final season is going to touch more on all of the events of the books until we reach a certain point — and from there, the show has to figure out how to wrap things up if they never come back for more. They don’t want this story to feel incomplete or there is something that viewers are not seeing.
With that in mind, we have a hard time thinking that Poldark will end in a way that feels unsatisfying. Odds are, the major stories of the show will be wrapped up and we will be left with some semblance of hope for the future with many of the show’s main characters, especially Ross and Demelza. These two have been through some extreme situations since the beginning of the series and we have a hard time imagining that the producers want them to be anything other than very happy at the end of the day.
Yet, there’s wrapping things up and then there’s wrapping things up so definitively that there’s no reason to go back. There’s no point in the latter. We think the idea template for the end of Poldark is what happened with Downton Abbey. You had what felt like a worthy end, but also a reminder that life could go on and these characters could continue to be out there, thriving and going through highs and lows. It was true to life, and that’s the best thing that can happen with this show. We don’t need it to be sugary-sweet, mostly because that is often not a reflection of hope. Being hopeful for the future feels more like the right course of action.
