The Last Ship season 5 episode 2 spoilers: The Nathan James goes back in time … sort of

We know that The Last Ship season 5 episode 1 next month is going to kick off the story in dramatic fashion — also, it’s going to feature the crew of the Nathan James dealing with what could kick off presumably World War III. While the world is recovery, this season could show that technology is capable of bringing everyone to their knees in an incredibly-short period of time.

So how will the TNT series follow up the premiere? That’s something that season 5 episode 2 is going to try to address. There will be drama, but it may be a little bit different than you would expect to see.

Thrust back to World War II era military technology, Nathan James must think fast to survive a fight with limited weapons capabilities.

The most appealing thing about this episode on the surface is mostly that you’re going to have a chance to see some of these characters fight to survive in a near-impossible situation where there are not many ways for them to succeed. It’s almost like they are heading back in time — even if they’re not — and everyone else is still in the present. It feels like every season of The Last Ship excels at throwing its characters into near-impossible situations and forcing them to find a way out. Everyone likes a good underdog story, and this sounds as though the Nathan James are going to be bigger underdogs than ever before.

Do we think that we could lose some major characters this season? Absolutely we do, given that this is a story where there is always going to be danger and we could see it being constantly-tough for them to survive. Yet, we do hope that they at least make it through the early part of the season!
