Shadowhunters season 3 progress report: The editing process

Shadowhunters season 3 cast

What’s going on behind the scenes when it comes to Shadowhunters season 3?

Admittedly, it’s been a quieter time as of late with filming completed and the sad news about there being no feasible future home for the show for the time being. Yet, regardless of what happens with a season 4, there are still twelve more episodes to enjoy — including a two-part finale that show executive producer Todd Slavkin has been pouring his heart and soul into. He recently discussed that in a post on Twitter; he’s diving into the editing process right now and these episodes will likely be completely over the course of the fall.

At this point, we’re all just in a waiting game for Freeform to announce the return date for the series — to date, all we know is that it’s coming back in 2019. Do we wish that it was coming earlier? Absolutely, especially since the best hope that fans have to make a season 4 a reality is seeing those ratings rise in a positive direction. Consider this a chance to convince some other friends and family to catch up on the show over the next few months — and then convince them to either watch the remaining season 3 episodes either live or on their DVR shortly after they air. These are things that could help the show — and, of course, staying active in the interim.

Ultimately, what matters the most here is that it seems as though we’ll get a satisfying end to the story no matter what happens. The ending for season 3 is meant to tie up many of the show’s loose ends, while also still leaving just enough open for there to be more of the story at some point down the road. You never know what the future can hold, but getting a little bit of closure in the present is also a good thing.
