Chicago PD gets another bump towards its long-term future
According to a new report via Deadline, Chicago PD now has another partner to add to the list in Ion Media, as a new deal is enabling old episodes of Chicago PD to make their way over to Ion Television starting in early 2019, when the first five seasons will be broadcast. The network could also have an opportunity to air some future iterations of the series as well. Chicago PD already had a nice syndication deal for cable, and this is just yet another revenue stream to keep it going.

As for whether or not we foresee Chicago PD being the sort of show that could make it to a season 10, all of the syndication possibilities make it a good contender. As the series goes along members of the cast will likely command more money, but this makes it a little bit more financially viable. This does raise more questions about the other versions of the franchise. Despite being the series that started it all, Chicago Fire has not found anywhere near the same success in syndication — part of that may just be that firefighter dramas are a little more untested in syndication, whereas the other part of it is probably just that it does tend to have more stories that carry over from one episode to the next.
Meanwhile, Chicago Med simply has not aired enough episodes just yet to be eligible for syndication, and it is going to need some pretty hefty episode orders the next two seasons in order to get there. We do think that it is procedural enough to be worthy of consideration.
Chicago PD will premiere on NBC come Wednesday, September 26. Want to get some more news on who will be appearing? Then visit the link here.
