The Affair season 4 episode 8 will kick off (effectively) a trilogy
Based on some of the evidence that is out there, Sunday’s season 4 episode 8 could prove to be one of the most important episodes not just for this season, but for the entire series as a whole. That is validated in a post on Twitter via showrunner Sarah Treem (see below), who notes that episodes 8-10 in some ways operate as a trilogy.
To date, Showtime is being relatively hush-hush about these episodes, keeping some of the cards closer to the vest they often do on a regular basis. What we know in advance is this: We’ve finally caught up to the present, and that is with Alison’s disappearance and the attempt by Noah and Cole (with Anton as a surprise partner) to try and find her. This upcoming episode looks to be a huge one for Noah and Cole both, and hopefully, there is going to be an opportunity to see something from Alison’s point of view coming up. That is going to be one of the only opportunities that we really have to understand who she sees things and precisely what happens to her.
Here is the true sign of a great show: When you realize that you cannot go all that long without seeing any of the stories on the screen. What we mean by this is simple: We care tremendously about all of the show’s core characters. We want to see Noah and Cole, but then we’ll miss Helen in the process. She had such a fascinating story tonight that we do have many questions for what lies ahead for her and Vik on the other side. Hopefully, before the finale there will be an opportunity to understand where everyone stands.
Beyond that, we know that there is one more season to come: At the moment, season 5 is poised to be the final one for The Affair on TV.
