Cable Ratings: Yellowstone, Suits season 8, and The Bold Type

Yellowstone

Following its big season 2 renewal, how did the latest episode of Yellowstone fare in the ratings? That is the focus of this article!

Ultimately, there is some good news to report once more for the Paramount Network drama! After previously posting the lowest ratings that it has seen to date, this past episode of the show ended up generating in total 1.95 million live viewers Wednesday. While it’s not back over the 2 million mark again, this is still a figure (alongside the 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic) that the network has to be thrilled with. Remember that this is still a network that is trying to find itself when it comes to scripted programming after its rebranding from the Spike network and we’re not sure if they even expected that they were going to find a hit so soon.

If the show keeps up this pace, it’s going to feel rather easy to predict a season 3 coming up in the future.

As for some other ratings…

Suits – The USA drama had a challenge of its own, trying to follow up the first episode without Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle. To us, this was the most important episode of the whole series given that there was potential for a big drop-off.

Well, consider this news mixed. Wednesday’s episode did decline to a 0.2 rating and 1.18 million viewers — that’s not as bad as we anticipated, but it’s still a sign that some people either bailed or just switched over to DVR after the premiere. The one silver lining is that the episode did perform better than the majority of the final episodes featuring Adams and Markle this past spring.

The Bold Type – We haven’t focused too much on The Bold Type ratings given that it has already been renewed for another season. Yet, isn’t this as good of a time as any to check in? This past episode generated a 0.2 rating in the demo and close to 330,000 total viewers. While this isn’t a huge audience, there are two things to remember here: This show is heavily time-shifted (as are many with young audiences) and it is actually averaging as many live viewers as season 1. That’s great for any show in this era.
