Poldark season 5: What’s happening behind the scenes?
Ultimately, there’s a reason why we should look ahead so early when it comes to matters behind the scenes, as this is a show that typically starts filming in the fall and most of the scripts need to be written in advance. The cast and crew like to have a good sense as to where the series is going — at the moment, it does appear as though most of the season has been written!
Speaking per the Express, Debbie Horsfield had the following to pass along when it comes to how far along she is:
“Yes I have started writing it … I’m writing episode 7. [But] it is the final series as far as we are concerned.”
Does this mean that Horsfield wants for this to be the final season of the show? Not necessarily, as there are some more books in the series and she is open to continuing to do the show past season 5. Yet, it doesn’t appear as though this is anything being planned right now, as the cast looks to be rather busy on a number of different projects moving forward.
Yet, one of the great things about Poldark in general is that due to the source material having some of the time jumps that it does, the series could come back years down the road for a season 6 revival. If the cast and crew wanted to do it, that could actually be a little more realistic than just picking up and doing a season 6 one year later, with the cast likely needing an avalanche of makeup in order to make them appear the same age as their characters.
