House of Cards season 6 star Robin Wright talks Kevin Spacey after firing
For the first time since his firing from House of Cards season 6 last year, series star Robin Wright is speaking out about her relationship with Kevin Spacey. This is a man who has been accused of sexual misconduct and assault multiple times, and was fired fairly early on amidst the stories starting to come out last fall.
Wright is stepping into Spacey’s shoes with Claire now being the President for the final season of the Netflix series, and in a new interview with Today set to air Monday morning, she draws a distinction between the performer she worked with onscreen and also the man that he was away from it:
“Kevin and I knew each other between action and cut, and in between setups where we would giggle… I didn’t know the man. I knew the incredible craftsman that he is.”
Prior to the final House of Cards season coming out a little bit later this year, it does make some sense for Wright to open up about some of these controversies now. This is a way in which for her to comment on the issue in a forum that many people in the world can see it. This may also keep her from having to address the matter as much when we get closer ton the show’s actual return. Given that she did not know the man beyond just him being a co-star, it really shouldn’t be expected for her to have to spend the bulk of the next few months having to answer repeated questions on the subject when this interview is already out there.
This interview comes shortly after the latest teaser featuring Wright as Claire was unveiled by Netflix. The promotional campaign for House of Cards is really just getting started at the moment, and we figure there will be more conversation in the weeks to come.
