Timeless season 3: The fight to make a renewal happen

Timeless season 2 is officially now in the home stretch. There are only three more episodes to go and with that, time is certainly of the essence.

Do we think that there is still a chance to see another batch of episodes for the show? Absolutely. While the live+same-day ratings are far from fantastic, there are some other things to consider. For starters, the series has a tough timeslot Sunday nights at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. Beyond that, it premiered at a difficult time of the year in that many people are more interested at present in going out and doing other things than they are sitting down and actually watching a show.

In a new post on Twitter, you can see some suggestions from show executive producer Eric Kripke when it comes to what fans can do in order to save the show. He offers some very good insight, including a reminder that networks often care only about the bottom line. It really doesn’t matter that Timeless airs late or whatever other excuse there may be as to justify the show’s ratings — it just has to perform. Therefore, watching live is ESSENTIAL to keep the show on the air. That’s especially the case in the event you’ve got a Nielsen box. (If you have a friend who has one, invade their house and watch Timeless over there!) While you’re watching live, spread the word on social media.

One of the other suggestions that Kripke offers is one that we co-sign a million different ways — be LOUD. The best way to ensure that there is more Timeless on the air is making it impossible for the powers that be over at NBC to ignore you. If they feel like canceling the show will cause some problems for them, they’re more likely to keep it on the air. We want to believe that it will get an 11th-hour renewal once more, but we’ve certainly come to learn that nothing is a sure thing and there could be some trouble ahead.

Be sure to watch live and support the show as best you can — this is a series that 100% deserves to be back for a season 3.
