Shadowhunters season 3 episode 6 ratings bounce back nicely

Shadowhunters season 3 episode 6 ratings

After a couple of weeks of depressing headlines, we are very much thrilled to report that the Shadowhunters season 3 episode 6 ratings are a nice step in the right direction.

Based on the latest live+same-day numbers, the most-recent episode from Tuesday night generated a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic as well as over 420,000 viewers. These are nice increases from the week before; more than that, they mark the best numbers since the third episode of the season.

At this point, it is somewhat-hard to gauge the ratings ebbs and flows of a given show from one week to the next. While there was no NCIS on the air Tuesday night, we wouldn’t automatically assume that a crime procedural would be a huge viewer-vacuum from a supernatural adaptation geared much more towards young adults. Meanwhile, there were some other competitors like The Flash that were still on the air and Shadowhunters wasn’t altogether phased by them.

What matters here more than anything else, regardless of reason, is that the ratings are going in the right direction. That’s very important in the long-term as a show of stability and proof that the ratings aren’t just going to continue to drop from one week to the next. That should help, in part, to make Freeform more comfortable if they are interested in getting a season 4.

Are true viewership measures for this show hard to calculate?

Absolutely, since odds are there are millions more people out there watching via other methods, including streaming, via DVR, via Freeform’s official website, and then streaming internationally via Netflix and some other platforms. Unfortunately, there are not a whole lot of ways out there to measure the show’s performance on a global level. We just stick with the ratings that are readily available and the ones that we think are the best representation of immediate enthusiasm in America, where the series has the potential to make the most money per viewer thanks to a solid advertising model.

The big takeaway for now is that Shadowhunters is on the upswing, and if it can stay at around a 0.2 rating and above the 400,000-viewer mark for the remainder of the season, we feel more confident regarding its future. (Personally, we just wish that the series didn’t move the first part of its season to spring, especially since it was working so much better in the winter.)
