Lethal Weapon, Deception raises rise; The 100 gets off to solid start

There are a few different things of interest in the ratings for Tuesday night, so let’s dive in here with a discussion on Lethal Weapon. Given some of the recent headlines surrounding the series on Fox, what happens here is probably of the utmost interest to many that want to see the show weather the storm and come back for more.

Fox can feel pretty good about the series’ performance. Tuesday night’s episode, even after the headlines surrounding star Clayne Crawford, drew a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic. With 4.25 million viewers, this is actually the strongest overall performance for the series in this metric since February. These are encouraging signs for the future of the series, but it doesn’t make anything easier when it comes to whatever Fox decides to do with the Crawford situation.

As for some other notable ratings from last night…

Deception benefits from a time change – After struggling in the numbers the past few weeks on Sunday, the ABC drama improved to a 0.8 rating following a string of Roseanne repeats. That is a better performance than some recent episodes of For the People on Tuesday night and, to go along with that, this tied for the show’s best rating in the demo since the premiere. CarterMatt feels that the series has a shot at a renewal mostly because this is a network in need of some sort of procedural; we do think it could have some good support with the right lead-in, but a show like American Idol doesn’t match up with it altogether well.

How about The 100 season 5? – The premiere episode generated a 0.4 rating Tuesday night following the premiere of The Flash — this is about even with the start of season 4 and with close to 1.4 million viewers, this is a nice improvement from both the season 4 premiere and the average for season 4 as a whole. This was also trending worldwide on Twitter last night, so we do think that The 100 is setting itself up well to have another season on The CW — whether or not this sticks the remainder of the season, though, is what remains to be seen.
