Agents of SHIELD season 5 at WonderCon: ‘Infinity War’ ramifications
Basically, what this panel best represented to us is the epic fiasco ABC could have on their hands in the event that they do decide to cancel Agents of SHIELD in the future. This is one of their lowest-rated shows, but it also generates great DVR viewership and has a huge international following. The fact that it’s the sole Marvel show on ABC at the moment helps it, but we’re also cognizant of the fact that it is probably only going to be given so many different opportunities to shine.
One of the big questions that did come up during the panel is one that we’re sure many people out there have already wondered at one point or another: How is the story of Infinity War going to be factored into the show? There are going to be episodes that air for Agents of SHIELD on the other side of that movie and with that, there could be a shift like there was following some other movies in the past.
Speaking (per Deadline), here is what show executive producer Jed Whedon had to say:
“The movies blaze a path … When Doctor Strange came out it introduced us to magic which gave us Ghost Rider; when [Guardians of the Galaxy] came out, we were introduced to space. We are waiting for that movie to come out so it can open a new playground for us.”
If renewed, we have a feeling that we’ll get to see so much more of this particular story unfold.
The one major omission at the panel this year was star Clark Gregg, but he was taking on another important responsibility over at the March For Our Lives rally. He did provide a video message for many of the people in attendance.
