Four reasons for an Agents of SHIELD season 6 renewal to happen
Should it be renewed? Absolutely, and we’ve got some additional reasons why below.
1. The current state of the ratings – To date, Agents of SHIELD is averaging a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. While that’s far from great, at the same time it is ABC’s #1 scripted show on Friday at the moment and of course there would be a decrease with the change of timeslot. How could there not be?
2. The story itself – This is of course something else that does deserve more recognition — Agents of SHIELD has one of the smartest, most consistently entertaining narratives out there for a comic-book show. It may not be particularly mainstream, but it feels almost like that underdog status these days fuels the show’s creativity a little bit more.
3. Bring us closer to the end of the latest phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – If the movie following The Avengers: Infinity War is considered to be the end of an era for this edition of Marvel movies, why not keep SHIELD on the air until then? You could almost use the final episodes as a coda to whatever happens within that movie.
4. Keep a good Marvel property on ABC – Given that the network is owned by Disney, who in turn also owns Marvel, we’ve long gotten the sense that the company wants to keep this show on the air for as long as they possibly can. We don’t think it’s a bad thing for Marvel and Disney to continue to do what they can to be persuasive to ABC that this is a show worth keeping.
