The Bachelorette announcement coming March 6 on After the Final Rose
Basically, ABC is milking the end of The Bachelor in a way that is even more substantial than they have to date. After all, they are airing three hours of the show on Monday coupled with a special two-hour event on Tuesday. Just in case the hype that’s out there already wasn’t a signal that crazy stuff is going down with Arie Luyendyk Jr. at the end of the season, all of this drama clearly is. (This is coming from a network that also aired four hours of Bachelor Winter Games a week, so obviously they’re going to draw this out as long as they can.)
Here’s the part of the network’s synopsis that mentions the big Bachelorette announcement:
Arie’s soul-searching journey continues after America followed the chaos of his being in love with two women, which played out in gut-wrenching fashion.
Arie, Becca and Lauren all will be together in front of a studio audience with host Chris Harrison to discuss one of the most emotional, stunning endings to any Bachelor season. Arie will take Bachelor Nation back to those weeks in Peru with Becca and Lauren. What was behind his unexpected decision that blindsided both of them? What will the women have to say to Arie when they see him? Special guests, including some of the provocative women from this season, Bekah M., Kendall, Seinne and Tia, will discuss Arie’s dilemma and his astonishing choices.
And in one last surprise, the identity of the new Bachelorette will be revealed!
So, who will the Bachelorette be?
There are a few different candidates at present but the candidates include Tia Booth, Kendall Long, Becca Kurfin, and then also Kristina Schulman from Bachelor in Paradise as a wild card. We don’t think Lauren Burnham this season is really a compelling-enough contender; we’re also not all that sold on either Kendall (too out-there) or Kristina getting the gig. It’s probably between Becca and Tia. Both of them have recency on their side — if Becca doesn’t end up with Arie, she could have a compelling story.
