Doctor Who season 11 premiere run time extended

Doctor Who season 11 premiere run time

The Doctor Who season 11 premiere run time has been officially revealed, and with that it’s rather clear that the BBC wants to get Jodie Whittaker off to a tremendous start as the new Doctor.

Per a report from the Radio Times, this new episode is going to clock in at an impressive 65 minutes, which is a good fifteen minutes longer than what some of the other episodes are set to be this season. This move represents in part the network making sure that new showrunner Chris Chibnall has an opportunity to tell the perfect story to introduce his take on the world.

We don’t think that it is lost on anyone just how critical this episode is. There are, unfortunately, a lot of jerky and super-judgmental people out there. These are the sort of people who could bail on the series in a split-second if they determine that there is something about this batch of episodes that they don’t like. They’ve got to deal with that pressure and deliver something amazing — we know with the talent involved that there is a very good chance of that happening. We are also cognizant that there are some who will hate regardless, mostly just because that is the sort of world we are now in.

For some more news now regarding what is coming, just be sure to check out what appears to be the premiere synopsis via BBC Worldwide:

“Already highly anticipated, Series 11 heralds a brand-new era for Doctor Who with a world-class team at the helm. Incoming lead writer Chris Chibnall has a fresh and inclusive vision for the series.

“Bigger and bolder than ever, this series marks the arrival of Jodie Whittaker, the 13th Doctor – a super-smart force of nature, alongside a team of new and delightful characters. The show will be full of action and adventure, humour and thrills. An unmissable high-end drama everyone will enjoy.”
