Supergirl season 3 episode 13: Is Purity key to stopping Reign?

Supergirl season 3 episode 13 is entitled “Both Sides Now” and is airing in one week’s time. Just how important is this installment going to be to mapping out the remainder of the season? Very, and that’s just putting it lightly. This episode is the final episode of Supergirl until April, and over the course of it you are going to have opportunities to see and learn a little bit more about Purity, the new Worldkiller that we’ve had a chance to meet and understand a little bit. She could be a significant asset for Reign as the DEO looks into ways to defeat her and stop the destruction of National City.

Here comes one of the challenges with Purity — just how inhumane are Kara, Alex, J’onn, and everyone else going to be willing to be for the sake of saving the world? Is protecting the city worth losing a little bit of your soul? If Purity actually knows a good bit about the larger plan, is there really a way to get said information out of her without being brutal about it?

The Supergirl season 3 episode 13 synopsis below has a little bit more insight into what’s coming:

THE DEO CAPTURES ANOTHER WORLDKILLER – The DEO captures a second Worldkiller, Purity (guest star Krys Marshall). Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Alex (Chyler Leigh) use very different methods of interrogation with Purity in the hopes of finding out how to defeat Reign (Odette Annable). However, Purity escapes and attacks the city’s subway tunnels. Meanwhile, J’onn (David Harewood), Winn (Jeremy Jordan) and Mon-El (Christopher Wood) band together to fix the Legion ship. Jesse Warn directed the episode written by Jessica Queller & Paula Yoo (#313). Original airdate 2/5/2018.

Why is this the last Supergirl episode until April?

There are a couple of different reasons for this. For starters, we knew that Supergirl would need to take some sort of hiatus in the winter / spring … we just didn’t think that it would be so soon. The only reason for that is because Legends of Tomorrow is coming onto The CW in the show’s time period. A part of that is do to some production-related issues with Supergirl that required a little bit more time to make the season perfect.
