Law & Order: SVU season 19 photo: The themes of ‘Info Wars’
The main character at the center of the case is Martha Cobb, play by none other than Better Call Saul actress Rhea Seehorn. She is a woman responsible for hosting a very conservative and controversial politically-themed show. The title for this episode is a clear nod to its inspiration, which is the controversial radio show hosted by Alex Jones.
We know that many of these radio hosts have a tendency to put a target on their back because of the mere nature of their content; yet, that does not mean that they should be victims for any unspeakable crime. Benson and the rest of the SVU team are going to do everything that they can to figure out just what happened to Martha, and if there is a way to bring in whoever is responsible for the rape. We do appreciate episodes of SVU that make us think and look a little bit outside of ourselves, this one could be that. It is important, after, for all of us to realize that we are all humans. We may share different beliefs, but that does not make us bad. That does not make one person inherently unworthy of justice. This is a very unifying episode in that sense, even if we may never ascribe to some of the same political views that we hear from some of these controversial radio hosts.
“Info Wars” is the second to last episode of SVU before the winter hiatus. With that, you better expect that this episode is going to go hard and bring a lot of big drama to the table. Hopefully, the writers also address the big tease at the end of this past episode regarding the memo. Is Benson really in danger of losing her job? We have a feeling we will probably find out sooner rather than later.
Before concluding…
A very happy birthday to Mariska Hargitay! Without Olivia Benson there is no SVU, so we are eternally grateful for her contributions to the show and to the cause of stopping domestic violence and supporting victims through her Joyful Heart Foundation.
