The Good Doctor will return on Monday, February 5th, otherwise known as the day after the Super Bowl. It will be airing an episode entitled “She,” and this is a story that is going to look at biology and gender identity in a way that is fascinating and relevant. This is the sort of story that you want the ABC series to address.

Dr. Shaun Murphy is surprised to learn that his young cancer patient identifies as a girl while being biologically male. Shaun must quickly learn to understand his patient, her medical needs and how to work with her family, who all feel they know what is best for her.
One of the things that we are looking forward to seeing in this episode is how much Shaun has really learned about himself since the start of the series. This will be a real test for him. This is a difficult situation and one that requires a very deft touch and to go along with that a great understanding of humanity. He needs to understand his patients needs, while also what is the best thing for him to do as a doctor. This will be an episode that should a have a lot of discussions taking place online after the fact and that is very much a good thing.
What is somewhat interesting here is that there really is not too much being said here at all about the ancillary storylines in this episode, even though we assume those are still there and are very much important. This hospital is about so much more than Shaun Murphy, even though we are very much aware of how much of the world we do end up viewing through his lens.
