Where is the Suits season 7 return date announcement?
As for why they haven’t announced the return date yet, the reasoning for that is starting to become clear: The Winter Olympics. When we first wrote about return date possibilities for the midseason finale, we speculated that the Games could play a significant role in the show’s scheduling. USA Network is owned by the same group as NBC proper, and both channels are likely going to be involved in some coverage. With that, you cannot expect that we’re going to be seeing a whole lot of Suits for a little while longer.
At this point, there’s not enough time for USA to announce a premiere date in early January — they’d be giving themselves no time in order to promote what’s coming up. There’s also almost zero chance that they will launch the show during the Olympics for all the reasons we outlined. It’s therefore now fair to assume that the Suits season 7 return date is coming in March (or later) and we’re going to left until that time to see how Markle’s Rachel Zane — and presumably also Patrick J. Adams’ Mike Ross — are written out of the series. (If you recall, reports are that Adams is also departing at the end of the season.)
There does remain a precedent for USA waiting to release the second half of a Suits season until after the Olympics are over. Four years ago, they waited until early March in order to launch the second half of season 3.
