The Amazing Race 30 premiere date: What SWAT news means for it

Amazing Race 30 premiere date

Based on some of the latest signs CarterMatt is seeing, it is looking as though The Amazing Race 30 premiere date is going to be different than some first expected.

After the most-recent season of the show aired Thursday nights at 10:00 p.m. Eastern on CBS, maybe there was a hope that the latest batch of episodes would air in that same spot this spring. Unfortunately, the latest news seems to negate that. The network is giving their new Thursday series SWAT 20 episodes, which means that unless The Amazing Race premieres around the time of the May sweeps we are likely not going to be seeing it in this spot.

So where does that leave The Amazing Race? Well, it is effectively displaced one more time. Maybe you try to conclude a show like MacGyver early on Friday nights and premiere it there, given that this was the initial plan for the show last year. Or, maybe you actually plug it in on Wednesday nights in the place of Survivor, though CBS may view that as a bit of a risk given that it will not do much in order to help SEAL Team and Criminal Minds in the ratings.

Beyond this and maybe a possible opening on Sunday night, depending on the fate of the already-in-danger-for-many-reasons Jeremy Piven series Wisdom of the Crowd, there are not too many spots available for The Amazing Race 30 during the standard broadcast season. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights seem to be fairly locked in, and save for the MacGyver example already mentioned the same can be said for Fridays. It’s possible in theory that the network could do something similar to Ransom and air the show on Saturdays, but that seems super-unlikely. While The Amazing Race is not a ratings powerhouse it does have fans, and clearly the show casted the one-two punch of Cody Nickson and Jessica Graf as a means to secure some more viewers who may not have watched the show for a while (if ever). Why would you want to bury the show somewhere that it’s not going to be seen?

This is why we’d be fine waiting for the new season until summer if it means that we would see it get better ratings, especially if it was to air after Big Brother on Wednesday nights.

Do you think that the Amazing Race 30 premiere date should be later in 2018, or would you go for putting it in the place of Survivor this winter? Share below!
