Wayward Sisters spoilers: There’s a reason for Supernatural spin-off’s setting
In terms of what we know about these characters, it makes some sense for the prospective series to bet set here … but there may also be another reason beyond just their history. For more, just take a look at what star Kim Rhodes had to say on the subject to Entertainment Weekly:
“They showed us a really great reason as to why that is happening … It doesn’t just happen to be in Sioux Falls. There’s definitely a reason.”
Whatever this reason is, you have to think that it will bring about many different cases and storylines on the show. Maybe there is a part of the show’s central mythology, (unknown to us now) that has to do with the city.
No matter the reason for Sioux Falls being the setting, we do consider it a positive for Wayward Sisters to have a home base given that Supernatural itself has a tendency to be rather nomadic. One of the few things that Bloodlines did right was trying to come up with a suitable location that would not feel like the same thing we had seen many times already. Sioux Falls is not exactly an enormous metropolis, but referring to it as a small town would be a bit of a misnomer. You’re talking about a city with more than 150,000 people, so pretty large for that part of the world.
You should hear about a potential Wayward Sisters pickup by the spring, most likely. The backdoor pilot episode will arrive on The CW before long.
