NCIS: New Orleans season 4 episode 5 review: Who is after Pride?
Let’s start with what is the foundation of this case, given that in the opening minutes Sebastian found himself shooting a man who he claimed was about to shoot him. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much in the way of that; as a result of that, what we ended up seeing in response was him having to temporarily give up his badge in order to ensure that the investigation was done the right way. The entire city was on edge, as well, given the current sentiment towards police officers and federal agents thanks to a series of shootings that are taking place out there involving unarmed men and women.
The investigation into Sebastian’s guilt was well-written in that for a time, it really did see like he was actually guilty of the act and other people were trying to just protect him. We saw Wade going to the Mayor in hopes of being able to convince her to not speak out against him; meanwhile, we saw Pride do everything he could to hit the streets and change the narrative.
Ultimately, as the episode progressed we started to learn that the shooter attacked Lund with glass bullets and that they were involved in a far larger conspiracy — Sebastian actually did shoot in self-defense and wasn’t acting maliciously at all … not that we really had any doubt.
There was nothing altogether shocking about the end result of this case; however, there was a lot to love when it came to the road that got us there and the investigation.
The larger reveal with Pride
Basically, what we ended up seeing here was more evidence of something that has been clear for a while — there is someone working within DC who is out to get Dwayne and stop him dead in his tracks. We understand that his work is somewhat risky and dangerous, and as a result of that we shouldn’t be altogether shocked that he would make some enemies in the aftermath of what happened with Mayor Hamilton. He doesn’t play by the rules and he has a tendency to cause one public-relations nightmare after the next.
The larger question you should be asking now is this: Who would be going through all of this trouble in order to go after Pride in secret and make his life so difficult? Consider that a mystery this season even bigger than some of the cases.
CarterMatt Verdict
A great episode of NCIS: New Orleans, especially if you like seeing the Sebasian Lund character tested. The unfortunate thing for him is that this is not something he can just wash off of him or allow to roll off his back — it’s going to stay with him and possibly even haunt him for quite some time to come. Luckily, he will have the support of so many others all around him.
