Suits season 7 episode 10 spoilers: The story of ‘Donna’

Suits season 7 episode 10, which is airing on Wednesday, September 13, is going to be a more important episode of the show than most. It’s the summer finale for the season, and there is something about it that should raise an eyebrow among many out there. Let’s just start with the title for the hour: “Donna.” This doesn’t give a lot away in terms of content, but at the same time it somehow does given that naming episodes after main characters is not something that this show does often. It’s not like Criminal Minds, where you see an episode named after someone and automatically start to feel as though something horrible is going to happen to them.

Obviously, it’s a big signal that something for Sarah Rafferty’s character is going to be happening in this episode; the question is waiting to precisely figure out what that something will be. The official USA synopsis doesn’t offer too much insight there:

“Mike and Harvey’s power move is countered, putting their backs up against the ropes. Rachel fears her father’s judgment is clouded by the past. Louis aids Alex when his client comes under fire.”

There is a big story coming up clearly for Rachel at this point, and that is something largely assumed given that Robert Zane was just a key cog in the 100th episode and will remain there in some form for the remainder of the show. (For the record, we saw some of those stories regarding whether or not Meghan Markle could leave after season 7 of the show, but isn’t that a bridge we should just cross when we come to it?)

In getting back to the episode’s title, one of the things we wonder most about “Donna” is if this is where she’s finally going to start laying more of her cards on the table in regards to her feelings for Harvey. It’s obvious that she does harbor feelings for him, and seeing him move on with Paula Agard is a sign to her that she has to start thinking about her own future. Her pain over seeing Paula is why she briefly considered having an affair with her ex Mark, who is now married; however, she chose to walk away at the end of the 100th episode while Louis Litt in turn went ahead and slept with Sheila. (This is something that we’ll probably look at a little later on down the road.)
