Once Upon a Time season 7 spoilers: Riverdale actress set as Tiana’s mom

“I had come from the grocery store, and there was this woman waiting for the elevator, but I didn’t really see her … We got on the elevator and I turned and said, ‘Oh, hi! I know you.’ She was like, ‘Oh?’ I know I probably scared her. I was like, ‘I think you’re great.’ ‘Oh, thank you,’ and she looked at my grocery bags and she was like, ‘That’s normally me.’ I was like, ‘I need my own groceries, I can’t eat out every day.’ We had a fun little moment with each other and that was that. Then I came to set and found out she was going to be playing my mother, so when I re-met her, she was like, ‘It’s nice to meet you,’ and I was like, ‘Well, it’s re-meeting because I’m the girl from the elevator.’ She was as excited as I was at that time. She’s the sweetest woman, she’s very down to earth and it’s really awesome getting to work with her and play her daughter.”
Isn’t that fun? It’s certainly different from the standard TV story, and it gives you a little bit more of a sense as to just how we’re going to see their dynamic play out on the ABC show: It should be fun, even if there is some tension here and there.
For those who haven’t heard, Tiana is the lead character from the Disney movie The Princess and the Frog, and we’re absolutely interested to see how the show is going to adapt this. Also, we’re curious to see how aware Tiana is of her royal heritage given that season 7 has a very season 1 feel where we’re in a community (this time Hyperion Heights) decorated with fairy-tale characters who don’t quite remember who they really are. Even Hook and Regina are going to find themselves subjected to this fate, and a bit part of the season is going to be, at least to us, seeing how they are in this new world and if someone can awaken them to the truth. Right now, it feels like Henry’s daughter Lucy is going to be the catalyst for just about everything.
For those of you who saw Chicago Med, you will remember Cox in the role of Robin, who was around at the end of season 2. Meanwhile, Givens is also known for her role on Head of the Class.
