Is Claws new tonight on TNT? Carries Preston teases season 2
Alas, it looks as though we have reached the end of the road — at least for the time being. There is no new episode coming on the air tonight; not only that, but there isn’t going to be any more installments until next summer, when the series comes back on the air with a new batch of episodes. There is a lot of story left to be told, especially when you think in terms of Desna and the nail salon putting on more of a united front. Their dreams haven’t quite come true just yet, but at least now they are all aware of the control they’re under from the mafia and the things that they are going to have to do in order to get themselves in a better place. There is an awareness to the story now that wasn’t there at the beginning, and it also probably helps that these women all have a better grasp of this craziness now under their belts. They know a little bit more in terms of how they are going to fight this threat, and maybe they can do that together.
So why did the women choose to stay with Desna in the face of all this adversity? This is something that Carrie Preston, (who plays Polly on the series) explained more in a new postmortem interview with TV Guide:
“I think they all made it very clear they would rather do that than advance without Desna. It’s all or nothing. And so, I think they’ll continue to rally around each other and get each other through whatever challenges lie ahead with that kind of pressure from the mafia. And I’m hoping we see more of that in Season 2.”
Preston also added that she would like to see “even more backstories [for] all of us women in the crew because we’ve only just scratched the surface there.” This makes sense, given that much of the longtime strength of this show stems from the depth of some of these women and watching them play off of each other.
One last ratings celebration
The show got a season 2 renewal thanks to its devoted audience, and we are pleased to say that last week’s finale managed to tie the show’s previous ratings high of a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Unfortunately, it did fell just short of matching its viewer high with 1.57 million people watching, but we still don’t think TNT is going to be all that upset given that these ratings actually out-performed some of the other shows that were on the air this summer on network TV.
