TNT’s Claws finale spoilers: Desna faces a big sacrifice

Moving into the Claws finale on TNT Sunday night, everything is coming to a head. All of the plans that Desna made are no longer secure for her future. Meanwhile, Jennifer’s child has been taken by the Russians, and the stakes are higher than ever for everyone at the nail salon and beyond. It also doesn’t help that with Roller’s return, Desna is in severe danger of dying.

The finale very well could have a cliffhanger (just remember that the show was already renewed for a second season), and it may not also been doom and gloom. After all, the promo teases possible romance, and this is a show that has always found a way to balance out drama with comedy and almost anything and everything in between. It’s a little more fluid when it comes to its drama and what kind of show it wants to be. (To be specific, we just think that it wants to be its own thing, and not an emulation of anything else that is out there.)

Take a look at the synopsis below for a little bit more insight, given that we think it does a rather good job of spelling out everything that looks to be coming on the story ahead.

Claws finale synopsis – “Following a harrowing escape from Roller’s (Jack Kesy) grasp, Desna (Niecy Nash) is on the run. Roller is close behind, running from the Russians. Dean (Harold Perrineau), Polly (Carrie Preston) and Virginia (Karrueche Tran) frantically search for Desna before time runs out. Meanwhile, Jennifer (Jenn Lyon) gets more deeply involved with Hank (Hunter Burke), oblivious to how close her life is to imploding. In the end, only Desna can save Jennifer, Roller, and her crew with a sacrifice greater than any she’s ever had to make.”

The latest on the show’s ratings

Just in case you still needed some evidence that Claws is one of the breakout new shows of the year, here you go: Episode eight of the series airing late last month ended up generating in total a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which marks a new season high, to go along with 1.589 million viewers. This is a very good performance for a show that has only continued to improve as the first season has gone on.

We’ll be interested to see if the ratings improve further, but the biggest thing that is currently impressing us about the ratings is this: The increased competition courtesy of Game of Thrones on the night is strangely not impacting the performance of Claws at all. We definitely consider that to be one of the biggest surprises that we’ve seen.
