Game of Thrones season 7 spoilers: Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage more present
Why is that? Well, much of it is going to have a thing or two to do with the fact that with more characters dying, all of a sudden this massive world suddenly gets a little bit smaller. At this point in the series, the show is less invested in introducing more and more new faces; it’s now more about taking some of the ones that they have, and then figuring out a great way to further implement them further into the story. With characters like Daenerys and Tyrion coming together potentially with Jon Snow and Cersei Lannister, for better or for worse, they’ll command more of the screen.
Speaking per Entertainment Weekly, Clarke further proved this to be true with some recent thoughts on the subject of how much work she has for this season: “When I first read this season I thought: ‘D–n, I gotta learn some lines!’ We’re actually filming longer now. I don’t know how that’s happening.” Meanwhile, Dinklage further confirmed this, saying “I’ve worked more days this season than I have in quite some time.”
In some ways, getting more of these characters works as nice contrast to the fact that for the majority of the first several seasons, there were whole episodes missing some of the show’s biggest characters. If you have everyone around for more or less all season, that may feel as though you’re getting the same sort of story arc that you would previously get over seven. This could further help the series in its awards-show efforts, though because of eligibility deadline, Game of Thrones is actually not going to be able to run for the Emmys until next year.
