Game of Thrones season 7 poster: The Night King front and center
This villain, effectively the leader of the White Walkers, is probably the character fans need to be fearful of the most moving into the final two seasons of the show. He’s got a vast army, with most of it still hidden amidst the winds of winter, and they cannot be defeated via normal means. He’s also got the advantage of being up against a group of people so intent on destroying one another that they don’t prepare for his arrival as quite they should.
For the sake of everyone in Westeros, it almost makes the most sense that the likes of Daenerys and Tyrion get into King’s Landing sooner rather than later. When you consider the power of their own army plus the dragons (a new photo over here clues you in on their size this season), it doesn’t seem as though Cersei or anyone else has a real chance to stop them. Maybe something will change because Cersei does seem to have the capacity to do some pretty terrible, despicable things, but for the time being, the Night King appears to be where some of everything lies.
The longstanding theory here on the site is that the White Walkers and the Night King will be the focus for the majority of the eighth and final season, and that the seven episodes this summer would effectively set the stage for some of the drama that is coming up with that. Whether or not this proves to be true will be found out on Sunday, July 16, when the latest season of Game of Thrones premieres at around 9:00 p.m. Eastern time.
The poster below is great especially when it comes to giving you a close-up look at the Night King, given that this is a character who has not really been seen that much over the course of the series. There is something especially creepy about his crown, but this still doesn’t hold a candle to the creepiest thing within Game of Thrones when it comes to a crown. For that, you just have to take a look back at the first season of the show.
