Game of Thrones season 7: More hype on top of hype
Anytime you do hear about hype, there is often a certain degree of cynicism that comes along with it just because you know that it’s someone who is a part of the show telling you that the is great. Are they ever really going to say that the show isn’t great? Well, this is where you then have to look more in terms of context clues. For example, if there are some problems with a season and a given cast / crew doesn’t love it, maybe they will hype it without superlatives. Or, maybe they won’t say much of anything at all. These are things that can happen, and luckily, you’re not getting those here.
Instead, what you are getting is none other than effusive praise from none other than Iain Glen, who plays Ser Jorah Mormont, otherwise known as a traveling man desperate to find a cure for his grayscale at present. The last time he was seen on the show, these was the main issue at play for him.
Meanwhile, here is just a small sample of some of the hype that he passed down as a part of a recent interview with TV Guide:
“I wrote to Dan [Weiss] and David [Benioff] and I said I thought they were the best seven episodes they’ve ever written … The story is going toward a conclusion. There’s no sense of treading water. You have story lines colliding. And the evolving drama and relationships are as good as they have ever been. It definitely feels like the beginning of the end game.”
Given that the seventh and final season only has eight episodes, let’s be honest for a moment here: It should feel like the endgame because otherwise, you are running that risk where the show doesn’t build at all and ends up going out with a whimper or feeling rushed.
