Big Brother Canada 5: Are there worthy newbie all-stars?

newbie all-stars

Now that the Big Brother Canada 5 live feeds are done, now is the time to start asking other questions. Today, it’s simple: Who are the newbie all-stars? Are there any? The veterans obviously took away a ton of screen time, and with that there are a few people this season who you probably won’t remember a month or two down the road.

With that said, there are probably three people who could feasibly return from this season, or maybe even four of production really wanted to be desperate about it and couldn’t find enough returnees elsewhere.

Mark Chrysler – Zero chance. First boot, wasn’t on feeds, and seemed mostly right-down-the-middle. Nothing all that interesting to see here.

Emily Hawkin – Pretty low-key and uninteresting in the house; entertaining and fun outside of the house. She was great in the preseason interview! Something didn’t translate in there.

Jackie McCurrach – Did you guys know that she was alone in the house? Okay seriously, Jackie had her moments, but she talked about showing off her fiery side constantly and it didn’t ever happen. No thanks.

Dre Gwenaelle – Dre is interesting given that she never “turned up” like she claimed she would, but she showed herself to be an above-average player who eventually got herself caught at the wrong time. She’d be interesting to see back to see if she learned from her mistakes.

William Laprise Desbiens – Another victim of a triple eviction, and someone who was surprisingly great in competitions and played fairly well before becoming guilty by association to Kevin. A pretty firm toss-up.

Dillon Carman – Better than expected because of the tears and some random live-feed moments. Probably not a great returning player, just because he’s pretty binary when it comes to his gameplay.

Karen Singbeil – A virtual lock if there’s another season with all-star. She fills a type that is hard to cast in returning-player seasons, and while she makes inexplicable moves sometimes, her quotes and antics made for feeds gold more often than not.

Demetres Giannitsos – Also a lock. Even in a field of bros, he is one of the most likable and competitively dominant ones in history. He learned a lot this season, and it’d be interesting seeing him without Ika.
