Call the Midwife season 6 episode 1 (PBS): Five premiere teasers!

Sunday night on PBS, Call the Midwife season 6 episode 1 will arrive on PBS, which means that many of you American viewers are going to get quite the gift! These eight episodes ahead are dramatic, sweet, tender, heartfelt, and almost everything else that you would expect from the British import.

What we’re going to be offering you over the course of the season are five teasers for each episode. Hopefully, these will give you a good sense of what’s coming without giving anything major away — remember for a minute here that we’re not in the business of spoilers! We don’t want to ruin the show; we just want to give you some specifics as to what it is that you can look forward to seeing.

1. Barbara and Tom are going to get a chance to settle in after their recent engagement of the Christmas Special. However, you’ll soon realize that they have enough stuff going on to the point where marriage is not necessarily a top priority for either one of them.

2. Patsy will receive some surprising news in the episode, and it could influence many of her decisions on the series as we move further into season 6.

3. Patsy won’t be the only one receiving news — Shelagh will, as well! One teaser that we’ll give you is that one of these two announcements you’ll probably be excited about. The other one may be a little bit more distressing.

4. Sister Mary Cynthia is still going to be dealing with some of the trauma that she had at the end of this past season. Unfortunately, this is not something that will be easy for her to escape. It makes sense logically, but that doesn’t make it any less sad.

5. The main case of the week this time will revolve around a woman in Trudy who is doing what she can to escape from a difficult situation. Let’s hope that she will be receptive to help, since some will be offered her way.

All in all, premiere episodes for Call the Midwife tend to do a great job of establishing an era for the show, while also giving you a sense as to what’s going to be coming over the course of the season. Expect both here, and expect episode 2 to give you even more of a sense as to what’s coming.
