Vikings season 5 photo: Check out Lagertha’s new throne!

With Vikings season 5 production still ongoing, we’re glad that there is something new to share today! Specifically, we mean that in the form of a rather badass new throne for for none other than Katheryn Winnick’s character of Lagertha!

Earlier today, Winnick shared the new Vikings photo below from her official Twitter account, making it clear that her character’s got “a new chair.” Is this something that we’re going to be seeing during some scenes on the show? Possible, but it’s also possible that this could be for some promotional photos that History puts out there prior to the start of the new season. Promotional photos tend to be something that a network creates any time that there is a pretty drastic change to a series, such is the case here given that we no longer have Travis Fimmel on the series. Not only that, but we also have a very different cast makeup with so many of Ragnar’s children being grown up and the addition of Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

We’re not that far away from filming being completed for Vikings season 5, so with that in mind, we’d tell you to keep watch for a little bit more news on that subject coming up shortly. Unfortunately, we do still think that we’ve got a little ways to go until we get news on a premiere date. Personally, we’re pulling for it to come back in June, that way we can get ten episodes over the summer and then ten more over the holiday season once more. We liked that set up for the show mostly because with Vikings now being 20 episodes long it’s nice to have two batches of the show to look forward to through out the year.

No matter when it premieres, we know that Vikings season 5 is going to be a wild ride. The stakes are still high, you’ve got some great characters, and we know thanks to history that there are still plenty of other stories that are out there to be told in this world for Ragnar’s sons. Maybe it does have an end date at some point, but we don’t think season 5 should be it.
