Game of Thrones season 7 poster: A sheet of ice and fire
As you can see below, there is both ice AND fire in this new poster, along with a reminder via a hashtag that the seventh season is coming. So is winter, but you probably knew that already. The biggest reason to be excited about this show is the mere fact that you are going to see a little bit of warfare courtesy of the White Walkers … and then also some fire-breathing dragons.
The show is, unfortunately, not going to premiere until the summer, which is easily the longest wait that you’ve ever had between seasons. Yet, that makes some sense when you think for a moment about the basic facts associated with everything. Season 7 didn’t start filming until far later in the year than usual, and the idea here is to recreate some of the wintry times in Westeros with the scenery on the show. Even though there are only seven episodes in this season, that doesn’t seem to have made things any quicker when it comes to post-production. Think about the big battles that we’re probably going to see on the show this season. We absolutely think that this is going to take a lot of time to get things together after teh fact.
As for when the show is specifically going to premiere, let’s just say that the jury is still out on that and then some. Our hope is that we will see the show back at some point in June, and given that the finale season of The Leftovers is only going to be running for about eight episodes or so, that feels like the ideal time to start things out. If this happens, the show will be likely done in August and we’ll be set waiting around for the final season to premiere at some point presumably in 2018. It is still rather crazy to think that the journey’s almost over! We still remember watching the pilot.
