‘Vikings’ season 5: Premiere date hopes for History drama
Tonight marks the season 4 finale for “Vikings” on History, and this has been a dramatic affair to say the least. We had epic battle scenes, plenty of bloodshed, some political maneuvering, and then also the debut of Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
The former “Tudors” actor is one of the people who is going to play a part in the upcoming fifth season, which is something that we are very excited about already. If you’re not familiar with his work, you are going to be in for a real treat.
For the time being, details are not entirely clear when “Vikings” season 5 is premiering. What we do know is that was renewed last year, and to go along with that, there will be a grand total of 20 episodes once more. That’s a huge show of commitment, but it makes sense given that the overall viewership for the show has stayed constant almost the entire season. As a matter of fact, it recently drew a season high in total viewers after the departure of Travis Fimmel’s character of Ragnar. That is certainly something that we did not see coming since Ragnar has been the show’s staple since the beginning and we were worried that Fimmel leaving the show would hurt the ratings.
Our hope is that we could “Vikings” season 5 start up in the summer, and we could see the show do something this time where we get a summer and a winter arc. That means that there wouldn’t be a horribly long hiatus, either. In terms of production, the show is certainly far enough along that it could be ready in plenty of time. (In terms of filming, they’ve only got a handful of episodes still to go; of course, there are some other things that need to be done in post-production before it’s completely ready.)
