‘Scandal’ season 6, episode 1 preview: Someone’s going up in flames (video)

After a tremendously long wait, the season premiere of “Scandal” is coming up on ABC Thursday night — so why not get a quick taste of the craziness ahead right now?

Based on the sneak peek below, what we’re seeing is that it is not going to take a tremendous amount of time before someone potentially dies. Huck and Quinn are doing some of what they do best here, as they navigate through the woods hoping to find their target. In the process of which, they find a cabin … and then an explosion not too long after that.

Who was in the cabin? For the time being that is meant to be the biggest mystery, and hopefully it is something that the show will choose to resolve quickly. After all, whoever was within that cabin likely was important to the show in some way — let’s just hope that they are not tied to the Presidential Election story in some way, given that this could have a tremendous impact on almost everything else that goes down.

As for what could be coming the remainder of the season for Huck and Quinn, it’s all fairly ambiguous for the time being. Obviously, they are Gladiators in both name and action, but what role is Olivia Pope and Associates going to have moving forward? If Mellie Grant does end up in the White House, it could put her in a rather interesting place. She’ll have helped the wife of her ex-lover Fitz get into power, and their still could be value in that relationship even though the two (rather frequently) do not see eye to eye on many matters.

One way or another, we’ll learn the results of the election during the opening minutes of the premiere episode. Consider that one of the many things that you’ve got to look forward to as season 6 finally gets into high gear.
