‘The Blacklist: Redemption’: Check out first promo featuring Ryan Eggold
With tonight being the Golden Globes, it only makes some that NBC would try to use that audience in order to further promote some of the shows that are coming up over the next several weeks and months.
If you look below, you can see specifically the first promo for “The Blacklist: Redemption,” a spin-off to the flagship premiering on Thursday, February 23 on NBC. This show features Ryan Eggold in his role as Tom Keen, but also many other notable people including Famke Janssen as Scottie Hargrave and Edi Gathegi as Mr. Solomon. The way that the network promotes the show is fairly simple: Three former Blacklisters set out to potentially remove themselves from that association. Can “bad guys” become good, or are things a little more complicated than that? It remains to be seen, but clearly “Redemption” is in the title for this show for a specific reason. The network wants you thinking that these people are capable of that.
One other mystery that currently remains is precisely what the mechanics of this spin-off will be. Are we going to see Tom separated from his wife Liz and his child for a stretch of time, or are we going to see something a tad more fluid where he simply goes off to work every day? Maybe his story will be happening concurrently with “The Blacklist” proper and we’ll see some collision courses here and there with the two shows. For now, speculation is really all we have given that so little is still out there in regards to the new show — other than that it will run for eight episodes.
If there is going to be a chance to get some additional information on the project, odds are that the next several episodes of “The Blacklist” proper will serve as a significant resource to help set the story. We will see what happens there over the coming weeks. (You can watch a promo for the next new episode of the flagship show over here.)
